Occupational therapists use a variety of self-care, work and leisure
activities to instruct patients how to improve their independence and prevent
further disability. Beginning with a thorough evaluation and based on the
patient's impairments, a therapy program is designed to focus on restoring
function while maximizing independence and quality of life. Patients are
educated in adaptive equipment and techniques to facilitate safety and
independence at home. Occupational therapy also provides a wide range of
rehabilitative services including home exercise program development, the use of
soft tissue massage, joint mobilization, and neuromuscular re-education
techniques and splinting.
This service is available at both locations.
