Neurophysiology
The neurophysiology department at Delnor provides a full
spectrum of diagnostic neurophysiologic testing such as EEGs and ambulatory
EEGs
for adults and children undergoing
neurologic evaluations.
Diagnostic Services
We perform
diagnostic tests, which evaluate when irregular brain activities are
occurring. They following diagnostic tests are performed at Delnor:
- Electroencephalography (EEG) – This
is the examination of spontaneous brain activity
- Ambulatory EEGS (with and without
video) – This test may be ordered by your physician for you to be able to
undergo at home and it will record brain activity up to 72 hours.
The video enables the physician to visually see what is happening when there
is an irregularity
The Results
As a group, these studies evaluate the
physiology or general fuction of particular parts of the nervous system. In
this respect, they differ from MRI, CT, and related test, which examine the
structure (anatomy, or what it looks like) of the nervous system.
Conditions in which physiological testing is useful include (but are not limited
to) epilepsy and seizures, sleep disorders, disorders of nerve, muscle, and
movement, multiple sclerosis and related conditions.
